First 5 minutes of Batman the Dark Knight

Okay here it is....the first 5 minutes of Batman the Dark Knight....

Notes from our trip. Alternate title: Snots on a plane.

It's great to be back in beautiful WNC! We had a great time, but I definitely feel that this is my home now! And thanks to you for being a part of that! Well, lots of people have asked me about the flight because I was so worried about it. I have to laugh looking back. We did everything humanly possible to keep Sam germ-free. Seriously, he was like the boy in the bubble all week before we left. And still-I truly have no idea how-but still he got sick! And the crescendo of the sickness was Thursday, the day we drove to Charlotte before our morning flight on Friday. SO, we slept (yeah, right) in the same hotel room with the world's sickest child. And noteably, the hotel room had a leak, but it was also the last room available, so we learned to love the leak. He hacked, sniffed, and coughed all night. No one got more than 3 hours of consecutive sleep-of this, I am sure. Especially because every time Sam would quiet down, we could hear a jet taking off or landing. (You CAN actually stay too close to the airport). We gave Sam some Baby Benedyl and Baby Tylenol (on the advice of our Pediatrician's office), so he would be more comfy on the flight. I was thinking that he would drop off in a pediatrician-acceptable slightly-drugged up haze. And he did fall asleep-on the landing!!! Poor little dude squirmed and fussed the whole time until landing. He wasn't too loud, though, so I feel okay about it. I don't have to refund the ticket prices of our in-flight neighbors-thankfully. Of course, David and I were dragging the ground. Welcome to vacation! Things went well after the landing. I was just amazed at how much longer everything takes with a toddler (asleep or not!). He was slightly freaked-out by the noise and movement in the city, but who's not?! By the end of the vaca, he was much more relaxed-even imitating the ubiquitous sirens as we strolled him around. He did great the rest of the time-even when he got a fat lip in the child care of the church we visited. He faceplanted right before we arrived to pick him up. I was a genuine, bona-fide wreak to see him screaming on the colorful carpet, blood squirting out of his mouth. The rest of our trip he looked remarkably similar to Lisa Rhinna or Rocky Balboa after the big fight. We tried to get him to say "Yo! Adrian," but he wasn't into it. David and I had fun seeing so many wonderful friends! But, we had a few issues too. David ended up catching Bubble Boy's illness, and had to try and talk to people with a rapidly-disappearing voice. I got some nasty blisters from walking in inappropriate shoes ( but they were cute, darn it!) and a new, juicy pimple! My pores forgot how hot it is in the Big Apple. I was sweating the whole time. And, of course, we are now officially "broke as a joke." But, we had a lot of fun, so it was worth it (at least until those credit card bills come.). In closing, Sam was a true champ on the flight home (umm-same meds). He ate and drank during take-off (good for the ears) and then proceeded to sleep the whole rest of the flight. But, I could tell that no one was happier than him to get home.
